Since the DOE website does not have release tests anymore, here is a great website to go to. It has release tests from 2000 to 2008. http://web.dps.k12.va.us/gibson/SOL%20PowerPoints/sol_released_tests_in_adobe.htm
Does anyone have any type of suggestions to this type of situation? I teach in a self-contained classroom and have been since the end of September. When I went into the classroom all of the students were out of control, primarily because they had not had any normalcy since the beginning of the school year. Going into the class was not too bad for me because I knew most of the children and this helped me to quickly get them under control. There was one student who regardless of the fact would not gain control. The student had a mentor and all of the accommodations we could have to assist with the behaviors. The mentor was great with right-there assistance but most of the time still rewarded the student even when the behavior did not warrant a reward, so this did not help either. This behavior issue was the only one thing blocking my class from being able to model control. The student then left and my class went into a classroom that was able to model control. Just before break we found out the student was coming back and already some other students in the classroom has started to display a difference in attitude and behavior. I did not inform them of this but they found out by seeing the student back in their neighborhood. The students prior to this have been wonderful. We have been able to complete all of their assignments and even a big class project, which for me brought tears to my eyes because everyone kept telling me they could not do it and they proved they could with someone that thought positively of them. We have gotten so much accomplished that our wall of work is so full that if someone came on our hall not knowing the make-up of any of the classrooms they would think all of the classes are regular education classrooms. I am now starting to feel helpless and like I am going to lose all of the control and efforts that I have been receiving once this change goes into full effect. How do I keep my students maintain as they have been? How do I get the students that are already changing back to bad behaviors to maintain the good behaviors? How do I maintain all of the hard work I have put in to have the class to display control keep displaying the control and tune the misbehaviors out? Someone PLEASE help me!!!! Any and all suggestions are welcomed. I Thank You ahead of time!

I will definitely take half of the responsibility of what occurred in my classroom today. The students are taking the TABE each morning, and several of the students are also taking work assessments- needless to say, they are exhausted. We all know how testing makes our struggling students feel. I had not gotten to changing the Daily Kickoff and Journal Entry for my 4rth block today, and that was enough to set the tone of the class it seemed. I never realized how having that "Beginning" routine to my class truly helped the structure... So, they didn't have a Journal entry today, and the main part of my lesson was actually going to be a presentation from a student who is of the 12th grade level. (I have a mixed level class). She had prepared several advanced organizers for part of her assignments, and was reading examples of pastoral poems. The plan was to have her present the Advance Organizers to the class, and give a lesson on pastoral poems. She wasn't prepared because of being absent the day before... I started a lesson on reviewing prepositions, and it was insane. I had one student bouncing off the walls, one student who was grumbling, but doing the work and trying to pay attention, and one student who pretty much just talked, or sat in silence. I got as far as I could, but realized that they were a mixture of being maxed out, and just not able or wanting to do the work. I eventually was able to get them to play a game of Boggle with me... But eeeeehhh.. it was horrible. I need to be better prepared, and have better classroom management!
Does anyone have any tips for students who are just completely disorganized. I have several students this year who are constantly forgetting/losing assignments, books, binders ect.. I sat with them at the beginning of the year and organized/labeled all the materials they needed for their classes. I then walked them through the process of making sure materials and supplies are placed in the proper area when they are recieved. I encourage and even check Agenda use from time to time. I even do organization checks where I check their class notebooks and binders to make sure materials are where they belong. However, short of me going through their bookbag everyday they are still completey disorganized. They have papers everywhere, nothing is where it belongs, assignments are lost and never completed ect... I am open to any suggestions because this problem is starting to severely affect their grades.
This is my first time dealing with VAAP. Does anyone have any idea how it works? Is it just like VGLA, but in stead of doing all of the bullets, I can just choose one?

Does anyone have suggestions on how to teach multiple subjects in a classroom without any other help? I have two different math subjects (Algebra I and Pre-Algebra) and two Earth Science students. Does anyone else have a classroom like this? I do not like. I believe that the students do not get the proper attention. All of the subjects have SOL's and if they do not pass them guess whose fault it is.
I already feel that I am behind again. This is my second year, but now I have new classes to teach and I have to start over from scratch with lesson plans and PPTs. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I can feel that I will be the same next year too. Maybe years down the road I will catch up. Hope everyone has a great year.
